Laser Hair Removal Cost in Luton: Prices, Sessions and What to Expect

Laser hair removal guide

How laser hair removal pricing works

Laser hair removal is an investment, so it makes sense to understand the cost properly before you book. This guide explains how laser hair removal is priced at Skin House in Stopsley, Luton, gives real starting prices for every area, and explains how many sessions you are likely to need, what the patch test involves and how to prepare.

At Skin House, laser hair removal is priced in two ways:

  • By area: each body area has its own price, from small areas such as the upper lip to larger areas such as full legs or full back.
  • By course: most areas can be booked as a single session or as a course of six or nine sessions. Courses cost less per session than paying one at a time.

Because hair needs to be treated over several sessions (more on that below), most clients choose a course. For example, a single full face session is £65, while a course of six full face sessions is £312, which works out at £52 a session. Underarms are £43 for one session or £206 for six. Online, you can also choose to spread the cost over three payments.

You can see every area side by side on our laser hair removal price list.

The details

What you need to know

How many sessions will you need, and why?

Laser hair removal works by targeting the hair follicle beneath the skin. The follicle needs to be treated at a specific stage of its growth cycle, and because individual hairs are at different stages at any one time, one session can only reach some of them. That is why a course is needed.

For an initial course, we recommend 6 to 12 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, and most women need 6 to 9. Facial areas may need more because of hormonal hair growth, and maintenance sessions may be needed later on. Your practitioner will give you a personal estimate at your consultation. Results vary, but the aim is long-lasting hair reduction and less reliance on shaving, waxing and plucking.

The Candela GentleMax Pro Plus and your skin type

Skin House uses the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus. It combines two laser wavelengths, 755nm Alexandrite and 1064nm Nd:YAG, which allows our practitioners to treat a wide range of skin tones, including darker complexions, with settings adjusted to your skin.

It also has a built-in Dynamic Cooling Device, which sprays cryogen onto the skin just before each laser pulse to reduce discomfort. Most clients describe the sensation as a mild snap. There is no downtime, and any redness usually fades quickly.

Laser hair removal with the GentleMax Pro Plus is suitable for most skin types after a patch test, which we use to confirm the right settings for you before your course begins.

The patch test

Before your first full treatment, we carry out a patch test. A small area is treated so your practitioner can check how your skin responds and fine-tune the settings, which helps prevent irritation. It is also a good opportunity to experience the sensation and ask any questions. You can book your patch test as part of a free consultation.

How to prepare for laser hair removal

  • Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Avoid sun exposure on the area before treatment.
  • Skip waxing and plucking for 4 weeks beforehand, as the laser needs the hair follicle to be present.
  • Follow the pre-treatment instructions we give you after your consultation.

Side effects are usually minimal, such as temporary redness or slight swelling.
